As a System Engineer Microsoft you will be responsible for the hands on operation of the existing infrastructure & introduction of new technologies into the organisation based in Rotterdam. Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead the role requires a split of operational activities and project led initiatives to maintain and enhance the IT services consumed by the organisation.
The position requires a self-motivated individual who can work under their own initiative either alone or as part of a wider group with proven delivery experience. The overall Infrastructure team comprises of members spread across 3 European locations making interaction with colleagues and an ability to travel nationally and across Europe a pivotal requirement. The nature of the role also entails a one week in six support rota (providing 24/7 standby support) and an amount of working outside of normal office times so flexibility to working hours is also essential.
Overall responsibilities of the new position will be split with 50% of your time maintaining and supporting the existing office based and industrial IT operations through both assisting the dedicated support teams and working on technical issues directly yourself including being present during scheduled out of office hours’ maintenance times. The remainder of your focus will be to assist with the hands-on delivery of changes and new technologies into the estate including overall ownership of certain technologies through governance, documentation, planning and solution enhancements. The company has about 1500 employees worldwide and has an annual turnover of several billions. The IT department in Rotterdam services several offices and locations, and exists of 12 collegues, devided in Skilled Service Desk, Application Management, System & Network Administration, Business Consulting en Project Management.
The technical environment is a Microsoft Enterprise environment, with a twin DC and approx. 200 servers (windows 2012r2), Hyper-V, HP Lefthand Storage, etc. You will work closely together with a team of other System Engineers, 4 in Rotterdam and several others across the other offices.. The work ambiance is 'to the point' and informal. All people have a 'can do mentality'. The dresscode is business casual. Togehther with you collegues you will work in a big plan office on the 7th floor with an amazing view. The location provides enough parking space below the building. Public transport is within walking distance.
Job Requirements: System Engineer Microsoft
As a System Engineer Microsoft you meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a System Administrator MS
- Experienced in Storage (preferably Dell)
- Experienced in networking
- Experienced in VDI (Cirtix or VMWare Horizon)
- Microsoft server operating systems including Windows 2012/2016
- Fluent in English and Dutch, both written and verbal
- CONSIDERED ADVANTAGIOUS
- Microsoft System Centre (SCCM/SCOM)
- Citrix/RES backend systems and associated solutions
- VMWare and vSphere
- ZScaler and Barracuda mail relay
- Microsoft SQL
- German language skills
